PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 9, 2024) – As the warmth of summer approaches, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) is getting ready to reveal some new exciting features at Spruce Street Harbor Park on Friday, May 24, with more on the way. With change underway as construction for the new Park at Penn’s Landing continues, DRWC is working hard to ensure that the 2024 Summer on the Waterfront is one for the books. A fresh look at the food offerings across the waterfront will also be announced soon. In the meantime, perhaps the biggest changes are a bevy of new attractions and programming sponsored by Independence Blue Cross at Spruce Street Harbor Park, which has undergone an enhancement in addition to the amenities you’ve come to know and love.
The Lazy Hammock is a new community-driven public space featuring a covered bar, a new 20’ stage, and a performance venue, including a 16’ video wall to host watch parties, movies, and more. The bar menus at The Lazy Hammock and The Blue Anchor (NEW!) will feature an emphasis on local beers and handcrafted cocktails sponsored by Captain Morgan, Hornitos, and Jim Beam.
Spruce Street Harbor Park visitors can pop into the new corner store, “The Trading Post,” to pick up pints of ice cream from some of Philadelphia’s favorite homegrown ice cream makers, snacks, and merchandise from local vendors and artists.
The Grove will return as a great place to relax under the canopy of lighted trees, swing in a hammock, and soak up the vibes.
